The Raft

The raft can be build out of any material and in any way, but must comply with the following regulations:

•        No boats, skis or canoes will be permitted to enter

•        No rafts with rudder, keel, skegs, guiding strips, “v” shaped hull or pointed bow. No streamlining of the hull below the water-line (apart from a front bevel) designed or intended to gain advantage over the other rafts.

•        Single paddles. Only one paddle per person will be permitted—no power driven rafts will be permitted.

Other Rules and Regulations

•        Ink and/or dye and/or dangerous objects may not be taken on board any raft or thrown or propelled at other rafts, participants or spectators.

•        Please note that the organisers of the Raft Race shall not be responsible, whether ex contractu or ex delictu, for any injury to any person, damage to any property, patrimonial loss, and/or any other loss or damage that might occur prior to the start, during, and/or after the race.

•        By taking part in or watching the race all participants and spectators shall be deemed to have irrevocably consented to the aforegoing terms and conditions.

•        No children under the age of 16 years will be permitted without the parents or guardians consent and signature on the application form.

•        All competitors enter at their own risk.

•        Rafters are requested to move their rafts away from the landing point as soon as possible to make way for the other rafts behind them. Any raft not checked in at the finish, will be taken as not having finished the race.

•      Competitors are requested to refrain from throwing empty beer cans and other garbage into the river.

•        NO GLASS BOTTLES WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE RAFT.

•        Should the race be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, the organisers reserve the right to organise alternate arrangements.

•        Entry fees are non-refundable.

•        Starting procedures will be announced on the day of the race. Raft(s) should not begin before the official start

Crew failing to comply with these rules will be disqualified.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:

•        First, Second and Third raft(s) across the finishing line.

•        First all woman team across the finishing line

•        Most original raft (judged before the race)

•        and many more prizes

Objections

All rafts will be examined by judges either before or after the race, or both. Only legal rafts may qualify to receive a prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and 1st6 women's raft. .

All objections must be lodged prior to the start of the race.
