MANZINI LIONS RAFT RACE 2011 ENTRY FORM

Race Date: 1st April 2007. Race starting time: 9:00 a.m.

THERE WILL BE A PARTY ON THE SATURDAY NIGHT.

Lions will be selling beverages, please support us by buying from Lions! Entrance to the party will be E10, or free for all rafting teams that have pre-registered for the race.
Basic camping facilities available, if anyone needs to camp overnight.
Although Lions will be providing security; campers, participants, spectators and partygoers must take responsibility for their own safety and property.

The entrance fee for each raft is E600.00.

Signatures of the above also constitutes a personal indemnity in support of the Skipper’s indemnity hereunder. Any person whose signature does not appear beside their name, will be deemed to be unofficial.

NO ENTRY WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT SKIPPER AND CREW SIGNATURES

Indemnity to be signed by the Skipper responsible for his crew and vessel:

On behalf of the crew / entrants I hereby INDEMNIFY the organisers against all claims arising out of injury or loss whilst participating in or travelling to and/or from the race. I hereby accept and agree to abide by the rules and regulations attached.

MANZINI LIONS RAFT RACE RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Raft

The raft can be build out of any material and in any way, but must comply with the following regulations:

•  No boats, skis or canoes will be permitted to enter
• No rafts with rudder, keel, skegs, guiding strips, “v” shaped hull or pointed bow. No streamlining of the hull below the water-line (apart from a front bevel) designed or intended to gain advantage over the other rafts.
• Only one, single-bladed paddle per person will be permitted—no power driven rafts will be permitted.
• All rafts must be available to be examined before the race and at any other time as requested by the judges.

The Team

• No more than 8 persons shall be allowed per raft.
• Only the registered team members may be allowed to paddle or push the raft.
• No children under the age of 16 years will be permitted without the parents or guardians consent and signature on the application form.

Safety

• Ink and/or dye and/or dangerous objects may not be taken on board any raft or thrown or propelled at other rafts, participants or spectators.
• NO GLASS BOTTLES WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE RAFT.
• Competitors are not to throw empty beer cans and other garbage into the river, nor to abandon rafts or parts of rafts.
• The organisers of the Raft Race shall not be responsible, whether ex contractu or ex delictu, for any injury to any person, damage to any property, patrimonial loss, and/or any other loss or damage that might occur prior to the start, during, and/or after the race.
• All competitors enter at their own risk.
• The organisers are not responsible for recovery of rafts and team members who fail to complete the race.
• Rafters are requested to move their rafts away from the landing point as soon as possible to make way for the other rafts behind them. Any raft not checked in at the finish, will be taken as not having finished the race.

Other Rules and Regulations

• Should the race be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, the organisers reserve the right to organise alternate arrangements.
• Entry fees are non-refundable.
• Starting procedures will be announced on the day of the race. Raft(s) should not begin before the official start

By taking part in or watching the race all participants and spectators shall be deemed to have irrevocably consented to the aforegoing terms and conditions.
Crew failing to comply with these rules will be disqualified.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:

• First, Second and Third raft(s) across the finishing line.
• First all woman team across the finishing line

Objections

All rafts will be examined by judges either before or after the race, or both. Only legal rafts may qualify to receive a prize.
All objections of non-compliant rafts must be lodged prior to the start of the race.
